School of Distance Learning
What is distance learning?
Distance learning provides an alternative option to traditional classroom-based learning.
This method of education allows students to study anywhere, as there are no classroom-based lectures.
Distance learning provides greater access to education for students who are unable to attend traditional
classes or lectures due to family commitments, a busy work schedule, physical disability, lack of transport,
or lack of educational institutions in their area.
Distance learning courses can be offered at all levels. Matric certificates, National Certificate N4 -N6,
and short courses can all be completed via distance learning on our web site.
What are the advantages of distance learning?
There are a number of advantages of distance learning. Some of them are as follows:
Students are able to study from home. This means that they won't need to travel to classes or relocate in order to be closer to campus to learn.
It increases access to education and training.
People can work and study at the same time - it isn't necessary for distance learning students to give up their full-time jobs.
Students can generally determine at which pace they will complete their studies.
Students can choose from a wide range of courses, as they aren't limited to courses offered by institutions within travelling distance.
The distractions and temptations of campus life are absent.
Distance learning is often more affordable, because travelling costs aren't applicable.
Students can study from anywhere in South Africa.
